Happy Birthday Wyatt!
How could our middle guy be FIVE already?!? He has gotten way way too big much much too fast!
Instead of dumping balloons on him, we tied them to some yarn and hung them from the top of Z's bunk so they hung down covering W entrance to his bed. That way when he woke up this morning, the balloons would already be there, instead of us lazily being in bed and missing our chance to balloon him. It was a fun surprise for him. He said it took him a moment to realize what in the world was happening to him!
As Zach did, Wyatt got to pick our breakfast. He too picked donuts, which meant another trip to the grocery store to pick them up.
Eating his yummy donuts and apple for breakfast.
Poor Wyatt, his first birthday activity was going to the doctor for Yannick. I suspected (after extensive internet searching of course) that he had hand, mouth, and foot, but he was so miserable I took him in to make sure. Uggh. We sat around for about 40 minutes in the exam room because the Dr. did not know we were there. Sigh. Then of course, yes, he had HFM, and there is nothing to do for him. As long as the fever is gone, he is not contagious. But his bumps will last about a week. We made sure he was not contagious because we have the boys' birthday party this weekend. So we spent about an hour at the Dr, paid the $20 copay and came away with nothing helpful or new. Alas, sometimes goes that way.
Then back home for the boys to ride their bikes for a bit, and for me to make our lunches. We were meeting the J family at Memorial Park for W birthday. W wanted to show Tobin the baby ducks and geese. It was a fun fun time for all of us, minus the goose poop, danger of falling into the water, and a bit crowded. I was glad they could meet us because it made Wyatt's day. At least the first part of it!
Much to everyone's chagrin it was time to go home to take naps, which Wyatt did not think he should have on his birthday. He had a point! Too bad I'm a mean tired mom which means I want to lie down too, and therefore they need to lie down.
Wyatt asked if we could go swimming for his birthday, so I had to make a quick dinner so we could leave the moment Art got home. Luckily, Wyatt chose tortellini for his meal, which was easy and fast. Art made it home in time for dinner, and of course birthday dessert. In wyatt's case, the toetje of choice was "polar bars" as Art calls them, or klondike bars for the rest of us.
Boys got to eat toetje with no shirts at the table because they were already in their swimsuits.
Then off to the Y for some swimming! It turned out to be not the very best experience for us. Nick was still feeling not great and got super tired and clingy. Then neither of the family showers were open so we had to split up, me taking all the stuff and Nick to the women's locker room shower, and then trading with Art taking all the stuff and the big boys to the mens locker room shower. Not our best experience, but still nice for all 5 of us!
Then home and to bed for the birthday boy!
He did not even notice that we totally forgot to open his birthday presents!! Tomorrow morning should be a good time for that! Oops! :)
