Poppi Visit - Tuesday

Today was a big day for Poppi's visit.  Today he got to go to Zachary's school.  They have not been as encouraging to parents about visiting as King Lab was.  I had asked his teacher if Dad could come and do some magic or read a few books, etc.  She said only one other visitor, the rotary club, had ever come to read to the kids.  Dad was the first.  It went so well, that she said they might start a program for grandparents etc to come and read to the kids.  Dad read a book, did some card tricks, and even spent $20 buying all the materials to show them a science experiment where you can make a lightbulb work powered by lemons!  She gave him about 40 minutes to work with the class which was unheard of.  He's never gotten much more than 15 minutes at any of Z's classes.

A big hit for all. Zach told me after school that some kids came up to him and said "that card trick was AWESOME!". Mrs. Kemp sent me an email saying that Zachary never stopped smiling the entire time Poppi was there. It went so well, maybe I will see if Oma wants to go to the school and read some Dutch books or something.

After Dad got back from Z's school, it was time for us to go to the little Jr. Museum and Zoo in Palo Alto. Went there with Mom too, and is super cute, and FREE (though we did give a small donation). The boys enjoyed seeing the raccoons, giant turtle, bobcats (sleeping of course), many reptiles, climbing in the aviary, and of course all the reptiles. Bunnies and ducks are cute too.

Of course no pictures of the animals, just my little animals "riding" stone animals.

After the zoo, we headed over to the adjacent playground to have a picnic lunch and play a bit.

Then back home for naps, including Poppi!

Art came home early for Zachary's soccer practice. He said the other coach was sick, and I would have to be the assistant coach! Yikes! So Poppi stayed home with the two younger boys and I went to soccer with Art and Zach. My assistant coaching was mostly limited to chatting with the other parents, and occasionally yelling some stuff at the kids. :)

After dinner, we let Poppi be in charge of putting the kids in bed, and Art and I went off for a relaxing evening to Target and Whole Foods. Exciting! :)

A full day again.
