Opa and Oma visit - Thursday ~ low key day
Today was a bit of a break from traveling for Opa and Oma. They kept the younger boys while I took Zachary to school, then we puttered around the house for a bit, reading to the boys, ect, until coffee/snack time at 10am. Even that was pretty relaxed because Opa and I did not leave the house until 11am. To go to.....Costco! It has been so many years since I have gone to a Costco or Sams that it was shocking. This was a trial run to see if we would like to become members for $55/yr. It is not particularly close, about 15-20 minutes away. And we don't have a plethora of space to house bulk items, but we could add some shelves in the garage perhaps. Something to think about at least bc the savings on food were substantial.
We zoomed through Costco, not exploring everything...just too much stuff. We made it home in time for lunch. Then after the younger boys were in bed, I had to make a quick Target run, which gave me about 15 minutes of free time until Zachary was due home. So I went to bed. And somehow stayed there for 45 minutes, without realizing it. Listening to the sounds of Opa reading and the big boys playing, etc all the while dozing I guess.
Once Z had finished his homework and Y was awake from his nap, all 6 of us took a little walk with ZW on their bikes and Y in the stroller, to a little market less than a mile away. We were hoping to go to the cafe next to it, but it closed about 25 minutes before we got there. Maybe Friday. Opa bought some beer, and a bag of skittles that everyone shared before journeying back home. Instead of going home we went to the playground for about 10-15 minutes. They wanted to make sure they were home in time for Wild Kratts. Back home, the big boys watched that while Yannick watched Thomas on the portable DVD player. Opa and Oma generously offered to both babysit and pay for a date night for Art and I. He did not want to ride his bike home and get all sweaty, so I hurriedly got dressed so I could go pick him up. I left Opa and Oma with pizza for dinner.
Art and I went to Kung Fu, a gourmet chinese restaurant. Their potstickers and bbq fried rice were excellent...the rest was overpriced for the quality/enjoyment. We will probably not eat there again. Next date night location: potsticker king!
A lovely day and a wonderful night out.
