Long Day - soccer & 11hr car trip

Today we left for our 2.5 wk sojourn to GA, with 2 stopovers in TN.  Prior to getting on the road, however, we had to attend a very important event...Zachary's last soccer game.  After the game each child was awarded a "gold medal" (as Zach calls it) for participation.  And I missed the whole thing b/c we were not done getting the house together.  I dropped Art and the boys off, thinking I only had a few more minutes left of stuff to do at home, and I could make it for the last game (starts after 30 minutes of practice).  I was so very sad...I missed it all.  The game, the award presentation, everything.  Boo procrastinating this year!

We drove back home, packed the car and headed out.  Destination: Chattanooga, TN, where we would spend 2 nights with Staci and Creed.  Staci, my Mom, and I had arranged to go see A Christmas Story (Ralphie & the Red Ryder BB Gun) play put on by the Chattanooga youth.

Then drive on Monday, first to ATL for lunch w/ MeMa & Aunt Juicenana, then off to Savannah for a week w/ Opa, Oma, Oma Sweet (nearly 104 yr!), and Tante Janneke.

During our drive, we got a call from our associate pastor, asking for advice on what to order at the Varsity (an ATL institution).  We found out we should be passing each other, us en route to TN/GA, them returning to Evanston from FL vacation, and made plans to meet up at Waffle House on some TN exit.  However, both our boys fell asleep and the idea got canned.
Wyatt zonked out

Zach's final position after whining and whining about how he could not get comfy.  He stole MY pillow and put it on top of the food basket.  Perhaps not the safest, leaning out of his carseat.  The red ribbon around his neck is for his gold medal which he's been wearing all day.

A long day for us all...made longer by Zach waking up when carried into Staci's house, and having a melt-down fit about not wanting to share a bed with Wyatt (they were on the same air mattress).  Knowing the real issue was being exhausted, and not the bed sharing thing, we threatened, cajoled, and bribed until he zonked out again.  The next day, of course, it was FUN to share a bed with Wyatt, and they did the entire time at Poppi & MeMa's house (except for naps, because they wrestled too much).

After chatting with Staci and Nana, we finally went to bed at midnight, 11pm our time.  A long day.
